Springfield Falcons’ History Making Eleven Win Streak

The Springfield Falcons are in the midst of the franchise’s longest winning streak in history.

hThe Springfield Falcons, American Hockey League (AHL) Affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets, recorded their 11th consecutive win of the season with a victory over the Hartford Wolf Pack, AHL Affiliate of the New York Rangers, at the XL Center located in Hartford Connecticut, December 6th of 2014. This victory extends the franchise’s longest winning streak in their history to Eleven Games in a row.

Both teams were knotted at 0-0 throughout the normal regulation time of 60 minutes which caused the two teams to dive into an overtime period. Both teams failed to score within the overtime period which caused them to go into a shootout. Hartford chose to go first, but missed their three attempts to gain a goal against Falcons goaltender Anton Forsberg. While on the other hand the Falcons’ Sean Collins managed to get the puck past the Wolf Pack’s Cedrick Desjardins in the first round of the shootout. The Falcons missed their other two attempts on a goal in the second and third rounds of the shootout, causing the Falcons to achieve a 1-0 victory over the Hartford Wolf Pack.

This victory gave Falcon’s goaltender Anton Forsberg, recently named AHL/CCM November’s Goaltender of the Month, his second shutout of the season, and his 10th consecutive win with the Falcons.

The Falcons now, 17 wins-7 losses-1 overtime loss-0 Shutout losses, are now tied with the Utica Comets at the top of the American Hockey League with 35 points.
