McCrays’ Haunted Hayride Horrifies Holyoke High
McCray’s Farm in South Hadley is a well-known Halloween-time destination. However, did you know there’s more to enjoy than just the hayride?
October 24, 2014
McCray’s Farm in South Hadley always has a lot to do. But around Halloween every year, everyone is waiting for one thing: the Haunted Hayride. Good news: it has finally open! Better news: there’s more than just a ride through the hay! Check out these other attractions:
Clowning Around
One section of the Haunted Hayride is known as “Clown Town” – this is where there’s a couple creepy clowns hanging around the hayride getting in people’s faces and scaring them or jumping up and down on the hayride with a chainsaw. The “Clown House” has loud music, strobe lights, and fog. Once you enter the barn they lock you in the pitch dark for a few seconds and then the clowns attack! Be warned: the more afraid you appear the more likely they have to come after you!
The Country Creamery
It’s not all trying to scare you half to death: you can also enjoy a snack at The Country Creamery. The Country Creamery has twenty-one different kinds of homemade ice cream and frozen yogurt. Not in the mood for ice cream? Enjoy French fries or a burger. They have beverages such as hot chocolate, soda and more. The Country Creamery has been feeding hungry hayriders since July 15th, 1996.
Walking Through a Haunted House
They also have a haunted house walk-through after the haunted hayride. You can choose if you want to go in it or not after the ride. It’s free but it’s the other half of your ticket. The haunted house has pitch dark spots and each corner basically has some evil. There’s people in there yelling and following you and getting close to you. They won’t touch you if you don’t touch them. There’s actors that have a knife or a chainsaw.
For the Little Ones…
Even though there’s creepy frights, you can bring younger kids to the McCrays Farm Pumpkin Patch. Big pumpkins, small pumpkins…you get to choose. There is a kiddie hayride for those kids who are young and would get too scared for the bigger one.
Check it out!
As Halloween approaches, be sure to check this out! Admission is $8.00 for children and for adults it is $10.00. Jamilly Matta, class of 2016, had said “It’s fun. There’s many things to do there and at times you’ll jump because of the people in costumes.” Brianna Zemrock, class of 2015, said “It’s funny and gets you in a Halloween spirit.” If you go to this haunted hayride a little before Halloween it is sure to get you in the spirit!
