Posse Foundation Scholarship Opportunity for HHS Student

Ten lucky Holyoke High students have the chance of a lifetime thanks to the Posse Foundation.

Posse Foundation Scholarship Opportunity for HHS Student

The Posse Foundation is giving ten Students from Holyoke High School North and Dean Campus the opportunity to receive a four year, fully-paid for scholarship to college. Posse foundations students are selected based on a GPA that is above 2.5 but also have some sort of circumstances (ie family life, etc) that may have prevented their success. Each student has to fill an application, and out of those who apply ten will be randomly selected and be able to chose a college out of the list of Posse associated schools.

The scholarship includes a full pay for a four year college. The scholarship identifies students who might be missed by traditional criteria but who possess the ability to excel academically. While the scholarship pays for courses and fees, the scholarship does not cover room &  board or meal plans.

The process includes a three part interview. Once a student is chosen for the scholarship, they will be able to meet with and form bonds with other students who will be attending the same college they select – or their “posse.”

“I think it’s a great opportunity considering college is a lot of money and some have low acceptance rates,” said Brendan Leahy ’19.

The interviews themselves will be held in Boston, and the ten students identified as potential recipients will have to demonstrate leadership skills, ability to function in a group, and other skills beyond their grades. The process is very rigorous, but a great opportunity for Holyoke High students.
