Book Review: Grim Lovelies
Megan Shepherd is a fantastic author who writes interesting fictional novels and creates interesting characters that don’t seem to fit quite well in the world in which they live. Her characters find themselves in odd, unnatural, or dangerous situations and must find a way out of them. This novel, Grim Lovelies, has the protagonist deal with a murder mystery that not even the readers can solve unless they read to the end. Others should read the novel to follow the protagonist on her journey to stay human and to discover who really killed Mada Vittora.
Anouk, the main protagonist, dreams of the day she’s able to go out into the outside world, but she knows she’ĺl never really be able to go out and explore it. She doesn’t have the freedom to walk around the city of Paris. This is because she’s not a real human. She’s a beastie, an animal witched into becoming a human. The one to bewitch her is Mada Vittora, a wicked woman who turns up dead in her own home after a gathering.
Anouk and her fellow beaties are blamed for the crimes and she flees with Beau. She and her friends only have three days to find the one responsible for the murder before they are turned back into the animals they once were.
Megan Shepherd is the author of eight fictional novels. Six of them are part of two different trilogies; “The Madman’s daughter” and “The Cage.” The other two novels are on their own as of now; “The secret Horses of Briar Hill” and her newest novel “Grim Lovelies.” Her newest novel was released on the 2nd of October, 2018.
