2019 Varsity Boys Tennis Season Preview
The Holyoke High School boys tennis season is finally making its return. The team is coming off a 8-9-1 record from last year’s 2018 season, which is a three-win improvement from the 5-12 record back in 2017. The team is still looking to improve. With high hopes and high expectations for another successful year, hard work and practice will pay off this season. The team is, once again, coached again by Mike Reagan.
Senior, Ethan DeJesus, says “There are a lot of things I will miss from playing tennis here, but running a marathon every practice won’t be one of them.”
The team has nineteen scheduled matches. The team commences the season with two straight home games. beginning April 2nd & 4th. They will end the season on May 23rd with a match against Sci-Tech.
If I had to make a record prediction for the boys tennis team’s 2019 season, I’d say we will go 10-9. The schedule looks favorable. The team has four returning seniors: David Rex III, Ethan DeJesus, Brendan “Murph” Leahy. and, myself, Dante Angelini. Also returning this season is Michael Lukasiewicz along with two new additions to the team of Jack Martin and Adam Pellerin.
The team hopes to have fun while working hard at the same time. They have a promising season ahead of them. We hope to see students, teachers, and parents attending the home games!
As I always say, no days off!
