Tonight’s Holyoke High Varsity Football game cancelled
April 16, 2021
Tonight’s Holyoke High School Varsity Football game has been cancelled due to weather. The Purple Knights were scheduled to face off against 1-0 Central in a league matchup.
The Purple Knights, like all teams in Massachusetts, have had a limited-schedule season. Holyoke’s record is 2-1 this shortened year, with a 2-0 league record. The Purple Knights started the season with a loss to Minnechaug, but rebounded with victories against Chicopee Comp. and Westfield.
Last week’s 26-7 win against Westfield saw the team come together with an impressive win, a game containing big nights for William Dumoulin and Dylan Lubold. Dumoulin, a staff writer for The Herald, rushed for 214 yards with two touchdowns, while Lubold ran for 129 yards and a touchdown. Also in the win over Westfield, the Purple Knights saw the return of Kevin Jourdain, who will be playing for Yale next season.
Tonight’s cancelled game was set to be limited attendance. For public health reasons, only fans given tickets prior to the game from players are being given entry this season.
