Charlie and The Chocolate Factory Play Set to Premiere in November
October 3, 2022
Here’s a brief summary of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in case you’ve been living under a rock: A child receives a tour of the most spectacular chocolate factory in the world, led by a peculiar candy maker. Willy Wonka decides to distribute golden tickets into five different chocolate bars to invite lucky winners into his chocolate factory. The cast is working extremely hard to match up their performance with the storyline. But in our theater, we will implement a twist of our own.
On September 8th and 9th, Holyoke High School theater teacher Ms. Brunelle, held auditions and callbacks for our newest production Charlie and The Chocolate Factory.
Our first rehearsal was on September 9th, in which we did an entire readthrough of the play. Students rehearsed so they could really get into character. Overall, it was a very successful way to get the cast and crew to work together!
The theater company is always looking for new members, regardless of academy affiliation or theater experiences. If you’re interested, we encourage you to audition for as many productions as possible. Ms. Brunelle is looking for people to play Oompa Loompas and stage crew in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Backstage roles are responsible for costumes, hair, makeup, set design/building, lighting/sound design, props, ticketing, and fundraising. These roles are perfect if you want to get involved without being directly on stage.
Yet if you’re interested in being on stage, but you didn’t make it to audition for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, auditions will be held for our next show She Kills Monsters on November 21st and 22nd. The show will also look for all the same backstage roles as the last, so feel free to reach out and try something new!
The Holyoke High Theater Company is thriving this year. Charlie and The Chocolate Factory is set to be performed on November 16, 17 and 18. Our next show starts right after that. Holyoke High couldn’t be more excited for the Theater Company and what it has in store for the 2022-23 school year!
