Matthew Perry, known by many as Chandler Bing from the television show Friends, has died at the age of 54 on Saturday, October 28. Perry died from a suspected drowning in his hot tub Saturday.
After his passing on Saturday, there were tests done the following day to find his cause of death. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner on Sunday told Fox News Digital, “An autopsy was completed today, and toxicology results are pending.” Results are pending and have not been let out to the public yet on what truly happened to Perry. People suspect drowning, maybe the use of drugs that he was struggling with, heat stroke, or natural causes based on his medical history.
“Perry opened up about his struggles with addiction in his memoir Friends, Lovers, and The Big Terrible Thing, released on November 1, 2022. He shared on the Q with Tom Power podcast in November 2022 that he hoped to be remembered for more than just his adored sitcom character.” Matthew Perry has gone through many treatments to learn how to live with the addiction he has and ways to move forward from it. Perry even stated in his Memoir that when he passes he wanted to be remembered for the person he was and the help he was to others with addiction then just “Chandler Bing” his Friends character.
Family and friends came to the private funeral and burial of Perry on November 3. The cast of Friends was present(Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer.) Friends cast spoke on behalf of Perry “We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family,” said Perry’s co-stars of 10 years. “There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.” Matthew Perry’s family also spoke out and said “We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother,” they said. “Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend.”
Matthew Perry will be forever remembered, his death shocking the world. He left a legacy to remember forever.
