Caitlin Clark, a young girl from Iowa, becomes the face of women’s college basketball. Caitlin Clark just recently graduated from Iowa University after playing four years of basketball there. In her last year playing as an Iowa Hawkeye the team almost sold out every single game. So many young girls and boys look up to her and all that she has done in her career so far.
Clark has been nearly unstoppable this year as she averaged PTS. 31.6 ; REB. 7.4 ; AST. 8.9 ; FG%. 45.5. She has also broken so many huge records during this year as well. Clark is the all time scorer in college NCAA history with (3951 PTS) passing Pete Maravich’s record of 3667. Caitlin Clark is also the first Division 1 player to get to more than 3,000 points, 1,000 assists and 800 rebounds in a career. She is also the first Division 1 player to make 3000 points and 1000 assists in a career. “She has 59 career games with at least 25 points, five assists and five rebounds — an NCAA record ”(NCAA.com).
In her career, Caitlin Clark has also played 3 career games with forty points 5 rebounds and 5 assists against an AP Top Twenty-Five opponent, which has not been done by another male or female player in the last twenty-five seasons. She also has the most career thirty point games on record too.
Caitlin Clark was just recently drafted as the number one overall pick to the Indiana Fever in the 2024 WNBA Draft. She reacted to her first couple of practices on the pro level that the game is so much faster than college. “I think no matter what happens, there’s going to be expectations and pressure on my shoulders and pressure on this team to be really good. That’s how you want it,” Clark said. “We wouldn’t want anything else. We want people showing up to our games, people expecting us to win a lot of basketball games this year, and I’m expecting myself to play really well.
