The Boston Celtics, an NBA team, home to the T. D. Garden. Fans across New England have been eager to see how the Boston Celtics are going to perform this 2024-2025 season. Coming off a formidable history as a team, proven via being the team with the most championships won in the NBA.
The 2023-2024 season for the Celtics ended with a bang, with the Celtics winning the playoffs, earning their 18th championship. The NBA finals concluded with the Boston Celtics beating the Dallas Mavericks in the 5th game out of seven in the final series with the score being 106 to 88.
During the Season, The Celtics had a well rounded team, their star player, Jayson Tatum had a great stat-board, averaging 26,9 points per game (PPG) and 8.1 rebounds per game (RPG) for the whole season. The Celtics are an offensively heavy team, as seen with the other players on the roster such as Jaylen Brown, averaging 23 PPG and 5.5 RPG, as well as their best defensive player, Derrick White, averaging 15.2 PPG, and 5.2 assists per game.
This past summer, Tatum was invited to play on team USA for the 2024 Olympics alongside teammates Jrue Holiday and Derrick White, as well as star players Anthony Edwards, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Lebron James, Devin Booker, Anthony Davis, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Haliburton. Fans were surprised to see Tatum benched for the whole duration of the Olympics.
On October 22nd, the Celtics home opening game for the new season, banner 18 was raised at the Garden. Fans gathered to share the experience against the New York Knicks. The team tied the record for most three pointers in a single game. With the Celtics tying the record, it leaves fans wondering how much potential the Celtics have and will show off during this season.
“Without a doubt they will break the all- time winning record, 76-5. Jayson Tatum will break multiple single season records. We need Porzingus back. We need Al Horford back on the bench. Boston will win back to back.” said 12th grader, Cian Callahan when asked about their predictions for the Celtics’ performance this upcoming season.
“The Celtics don’t have what it takes. They may be undefeated but have no chance once Stephen Curry comes back. I’ve grown up in the Massachusetts area my whole life, everything about the Celtics I just hate.” Said 12th grader, Jovaugn Rivera.
