Halloween Fun in Western Mass

Looking for something frightfully fun to do this Halloween season? The Herald has you covered!

Halloween is fast approaching and fall is most definitely here. The Herald has taken the time to compile this list of chilling ways to spend your weekend.

  • McCray’s Farm– South Hadley: This year is the 25th anniversary of McCray’s terrifying Monster Mash Scream Park. Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from now till October 31st. The little ones are not excluded from the fun. The Children’s Monster Mash runs 5:30-6:30. McCray’s also has their fields full of pumpkins looking for faces. They run wagon rides to and from their fields during the day so you can pick the perfect pumpkin

  • Mike’s Maze– Sunderland: Mike’s Maze is more than your average corn maze. The long winding paths make up a picture. This year’s maze is based off Alice in Wonderland. But that’s not all. Mike’s also designated time in which you can run through the maze with only flashlight. Want something scarier? How about the Haunted Maze. Far more intense than sauntering through the corn during the day. What about the Zombie Night Patrol? Gap your paintball guns and do your bit to protect the town from Zombies. Other activities include racing pedal carts and launching potatoes from Mike’s Potato Blaster. Mike’s Maze is open Weekends until Sunday, November 8, 2015

  • Fright Fest– Agawam: New England’s largest theme park has been overrun by zombies, ghouls, and goblins. Six Flags has a few extra thrills in store for you. Visit the new 3D Slasher Circus or tour the Midnight Mansion. But watch your back; ghouls and ghosts lurk behind every corner.

  • Rails to The Darkside– East Winsor Ct.: Dare to take a ride on the on the trolley? Just outside of Massachusetts lies a haunted trolley. Some of this trolley’s tracks are said to be places on top of an old cemetery which was moved to make room for the trolley. From that day forward strange happenings have occurred on that line ever since. Open Fridays and Saturdays until October 30th.

  • Demented FX– Easthampton: You are invited to tour BioMedCorp, an experimental cloning and genetics laboratory. Beware some of the experiments have managed to escape, so be sure they don’t get you. Open Thursdays-Sundays until Halloween.
  • Follow them on Twitter @dementedfx

  • Boo Fest– Holyoke: Holyoke’s Parks and recreation Dept. is hosting their not so scary Halloween party on October 31st at Heritage state park from 1pm to 4pm. Great for the little ones.

  • Tours of Forestdale Cemetery– Holyoke: the Wistariahurst museum is hosting two tours of the Forestdale cemetery. Tour the cemetery in the dark with their flashlight tour on Friday the 30th, or choose the daylight tour on the 31st. You are certain to know more about Holyoke’s dead after either of these tours.

Happy Halloween from The Herald!
