Should Jose Mourinho be Sacked as Chelsea's Manager?

Any avid follower of the Barclay’s Premier League (BPL) would know that Chelsea, the current BPL title holder, has had their worst start to a regular season of soccer in many, many years. So far they have lost 5 games out of the 10 that they’ve played, more than they lost in the entirety of last season. They have a super-star line up, promising young talent, and their manager, Jose Mourinho, was world-class last season when he led the Blue’s to the BPL title, with style, grace, and ease. So what seems to be the problem this season?

It seems this “world class manager” they had last season isn’t so world-class now. Recently, he has received a large fine and a one-match ban for bad-mouthing a match official for not awarding a penalty during a defeat to Southampton, and even since then things have not improved. Many fingers seem to be pointing to Mourinho and his failure to behave and keep his players in check for why this season has been progressing so poorly. Some examples of this “special one” (Mourinho) acting out and causing problems behind the scenes would be:

  • Criticizing and discriminating against the female sideline doctor, Eva Carneiro.
  • Refusal to speak to the media post-match.
  • Making the attempt to enter the referee’s room during the halftime break against West Ham United, and insulted them  by calling them “soft”, which resulted in him being sent back to the stands for the entire second half.

Due to these recent actions against the referees, he is being charged by the Football Association (FA) for misconduct.

So the ultimate questions as of late seem to be: Should Jose Mourinho be sacked as Chelsea’s manager? And if he were to be, where would he go and who would replace him?

If things don’t get better, Jose Mourinho should be sent away to find new endeavors. There has been an interest from the French clubs Paris Saint-Germain and AS Monaco, but there doesn’t seem to be any sure-fire replacements to fill his spot on the immediate horizon. If Chelsea’s season continues to head downhill like it already has been, the Blues could be showing “the special one” out the door.
