Meet A New Teacher: Ro Sigle
Ro Sigle joins the HHS staff as a Restorative Justice Interventionist.
In preparation for the coming school year, many additions to the Holyoke High School staff have been made. One of these newcomers is Ro Sigle, whose specialty is with the Holyoke High Restorative Justice program.
Before coming to HHS, Sigle worked in Washington where she was part of the Bridges program. Sigle also earned a Masters in Social Justice at the University of Massachusetts.
Restorative Justice (RJ) is a practice in Holyoke High that supports and focuses on students in conflict. Sigle works as a Restorative Justice Interventionist, who prepares and coordinates student circles. RJ prioritizes on repairing student relationships, rather than punishing students.
“This year we’ve had a lot of success,” said Sigle. “Everyone we’ve had a circle with has been glad they’ve done it”.
One personal goal that Sigle has for this year is to integrate into the Holyoke High community.
“Everyone here has been so welcoming,” said Sigle.
We are very lucky to have Ms. Sigle as a part of our staff. Her past work experiences and education helps students solve their own problems, instead of being punished as a way of solving them. We on The Herald would like to extend a warm welcome to Ms. Sigle to our school.
