The new season hasn’t started that well for the Boston Bruins as they currently have a 1-3 record. After starting off with a win over Philadelphia, the B’s dropped three straight. The losing began with a close loss to the Red wings followed by being shutout out by the Capitals and then a buzzer beater loss to the Avalanche.

Recently, the Bruins have been involved in trades and signings. Just before the start of the season the Bruins traded defenseman and fan favorite Johnny Boychuk to the Islanders. They received draft picks for Boychuk which included second and third rounders in 2015 and a second rounder in 2016. Another recent move the Bruins made was signing a veteran goal scorer Simon Gagne. Gagne was trying out with the B’s in the preseason and they eventually signed him four games into the 2014-2015 campaign. After the 1-3 start the Bruins went 2 and 1 with a loss to the Capitals and wins against Detroit and Buffalo.

After a disappointing 6 to 1 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs two nights ago the Bruins were set to take on their rivals the Montreal Canadians last week. The six goals the opponent put up the night before led the coaching staff to start the backup goalie Niklas Svedburg. The bruins were looking to shake off the previous loss and through the first 20 minutes it looked like they were going to do so. The bruins went up 1-0 after the first, but there is 3 periods in a hockey game and the B’s only came to play one. The Bruins finished the night with a 5-1 loss and not too many positives to take out of it. After this tough skid up north the Bruins head back to Boston Saturday to take on the struggling Hurricanes hoping to bounce back.
