March Madness 2016: The Heralds Picks

Marty Keane, Staff Reporter '18

It is that time of the year again! When March rolls around, you know that means two things: St. Patrick’s Day and the NCAA Tournament. Although both have equal madness, we can talk about St. Patrick’s Day another time. Right now, we are talking about Division I men’s college basketball.

If you are like me, you have spent the whole winter watching ESPN to take note of the top players and teams so that come tournament time, you can pick the perfect bracket. But inevitably, year after year your bracket is still busted after all the time and figuring you have put into it, and your mother, who knows nothing about the tourney, still picks a better bracket than you. Most people say the best way to pick a bracket is blindly, which lends to the madness of the whole event.

On March 13, 2016, the bracket was to be periodically announced throughout a two-hour program on CBS. Ironically though, this year the bracket was leaked and had thus ended the wait.

Filling out an annual bracket has become an American tradition. It seems like everyone fills one out, regardless of whether you watch the sport or not. But if one thing is for sure, the event is an unpredictable tournament that captivates the entire nation for the entire month of March.

The Herald Team is no stranger to this joyous occasion, and we joined in on the fun and filled out brackets of our own. Here are our picks for the 2016 NCAA Tournament:
