STEM Club

Students interested in science, techonology, engineering, and/or math are encouraged to join Holyoke High School’s STEM Club, run by physics teacher, Mr. Benoit.

This year, one of the many extracurricular at Holyoke High, the STEM Club, will be held every Thursday after school in room 118. STEM is an extracurricular program where students participate in fun experiments and create a variety of different devices.

Once again, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) is run by Holyoke High School’s only physics teacher, Mr. Benoit. He is assisted by the student president Matthew Bevan, who is a senior this year.

“People should do STEM if they’re interested in physics and science,” said Mr. Benoit about STEM. “We try to make science fun by doing as many fun projects as possible.”

The STEM program has created many things in the past. Some of their creations are: model bridges, bottle rockets, catapults, and mouse trap cars. Currently, Mr. Benoit and his students are making a bed of nails. This bed of nails is being made to represent “Force vs. Pressure.”

“If you enjoy science, STEM is a great place to spend some of your free-time,” said Matthew Bevan. “I hope more people join our program, we’re doing some cool stuff right now.”

So if you find yourself after school craving some scientific knowledge, stop by room 118, and spend some time creating fun projects with Mr. Benoit and the rest of the STEM Club.
