“Out of the Darkness” Dance To Raise Suicide Awareness
Business Club and Student Government team up to raise awareness about teen suicide.
The HHS Business Club and Student Government are putting on a school dance on March 10, 2017. The dance is a charity fundraiser for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. A portion of the proceeds will go the two groups putting on the dance as well.
“We all just hope that we can make some people’s lives just a little bit better,” said Catherine Pater, president of the Business Club. Pater is glad that the groups are giving to such an honorable cause.
The dance is almost entirely student run. Those in the business club and on student government will be working both the ticket table (where the 50/50 raffle will be held) and the refreshment table.
Roshay (HHS senior Kenny Roche) will be performing and there will be prizes for whoever wears the best yellow outfit.
“Suicide is the second leading cause of death among teens,” said Student Government Adviser Mrs. Butler. Butler said that the two groups teamed together “to focus attention and bring awareness to students that suicide can be prevented.” She hopes that with the dance, students will now know more about the people and places they can turn to in times of despair.
Students of all grades are invited to attend this non formal dance in the cafeteria. The dance is from 6 pm-10 pm, and is $4 to get in. Come show your support!
