Review of K-pop

Guest writer, Juan Lleras Roman, reviews K-pop for The Herald.

This genre was chosen because K-pop is all over the place. In today’s music, this genre is taking over anything even artist that sing completely different genres are singing this and even people that don’t sing at all.
K-pop has interesting facts. One fact is the first album of K-pop was released in 1925, it was called Yi Pungjin Sewol by Nakhwayusu. The most popular K-pop band by many sources such as Facebook, Reddit, and many more. I came to a conclusion that it’s the band called BTS. This peaked my interest because I don’t really like K-pop. Another fact is that I think that K-pop is winning every other genre of music which does not bother me. Finally, BTS is winning over any other K-pop band.
BTS started out on June 12, 2013. Then they continued writing songs. From this point, they became the most popular band in the world again due to research that I did in my free time. Now they are still singing and dancing. BTS latest song was written on April 13, 2018.
The popularity of BTS is huge. Through looking at their fan page, you can see they have a lot of fandoms. Another way of showing their popularity is by their 9.7 million followers on Instagram. Reporters from American news once said they are crazy for BTS. Overall, it’s good for them that they are being talked about everywhere from fan pages to 22 news’ stations.
BTS songs sound like any other pop song but in Korean. Through listening to their music, you can tell the genre is K-pop. You can tell this to the beat. Overall these songs are just pop but in another language.
I conclude that K-pop, this genre, is everywhere. From the band BTS background and popularity. I conclude that without them, K-pop would not be so popular, because back then, when K-pop was just starting, it was not as popular until around June 13, 2013, when the Google search and fan pages of K-pop skyrocketed from what BTS did to make it popular. Finally, K-pop is the most popular genre of music, so there is nothing else to say but…K-pop! I think it would carry over to 2019 maybe even to 2020. Maybe even more; maybe they become so popular that the other genre becomes obsolete- meaning useless.
