The NBA season is gearing up to start, and fans all across the country are buzzing with anticipation. The stage is set for both returning and new players to hit the court, but unanswered questions still linger. The looming threat of trade rumors surrounding big names like James Harden and Damian Lillard, as well as the pressure on teams to perform, has left fans wondering what to expect.
One of the biggest questions on everyone’s minds is whether or not Portland Trail Blazers Legend Damian Lillard will be traded. Lillard officially requested a trade from the Trail Blazers back in July, but thus far, no updates have been made available to the public.
This season is especially important for rookies like San Antonio Spurs’ number one pick Victor Wembamyama. With only two games under his belt, Wembamyama has a lot to prove, but he’s certainly off to a strong start, recording 36 points, 20 rebounds, eight blocks, three assists, and a 41% field goal percentage.
But it’s not just rookies who have something to prove. Teams must perform in order to maintain their star players, as evidenced by Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo’s statement that “As long as we are in for a championship, as long as nobody’s comfortable, as long as everybody’s sacrificing the same amount of time and sweat and blood that I’ve sacrificed for this city to win a championship, we are all good.” If the Bucks can’t prove that they have what it takes to win, they may lose one of their biggest stars.
Drama has also been brewing with Philadelphia 76ers player James Harden, who accused the team’s president of Basketball Operations of lying in front of a crowd. Although the two have reportedly mended their relationship, rumors of a potential trade continue to swirl.
As the NBA season gets underway, fans can expect plenty of excitement both on and off the court. With so many unanswered questions, it’s sure to be a season full of surprises.
