Breast Cancer Awareness

Breast+Cancer+Awareness

October is the month to celebrate the women around the world who are survivors as well as the loved ones who were lost on their journey. Holyoke High School is supporting breast cancer awareness by showing off their pink outfits along with their pink ribbons, as well as the overall sport teams playing in pink.

On October 5th, 2023 Holyoke High Girls Soccer showed off their pink on the field as they went against Ware High School. They were able to wear the pink ribbon as well as different pink accessories. Now, Boys Soccer is having a pink out  playing on October 6th, 2023. They’ll also be showing off their pink accessories as well as students watching the game. Volleyball also had a pink out on October 10th as well as their senior night for varsity against Sci-Tech winning with 3-0.

The Holyoke High Football players and cheerleaders will also have a pink out on October 6th at 7pm. And on Tuesday, Field Hockey Players supported their former teammate Heather McMahon who died from brain cancer. They’re showing their support by wearing student designed t-shirts as well as different accessories to support their teammate as they won against Palmer 5-0. During the game, they were selling shirts and donating the money made as well as taking donations.

Holyoke High School is still actively thinking of ways to support this month and honor the people who lost to their battle of breast cancer. Sports showing off their pink as well as student sections is appreciated and one of many ways to donate your appreciation. Money isn’t the only way to show respect but this shows how much people support one another and the struggles many people go through.
