Sister Act Opens March 23

This year’s annual musical Sister Act opens March 23.

Connor Norton ’18 rehearses with the rest of the cast.

Every year, under the direction of Mr. Todd, Broadway comes to Holyoke High School for a blockbuster musical performance. This year’s show will be a rendition of the 1992 musical comedy film “Sister Act,” where a woman under witness protection must pretend to be a nun in a convent in order to hide from a mob man out to get her.

“Production is coming together very well,” says Darian Gonzalez ’17, “we expect the very best from our students and that’s what we’re going to give.”

The students dedicate hours upon hours of after school time to this production.

“Working on the musical has definitely been a lot of work,” says Connor Norton ’18, who plays Lt. Eddie Souther, “but it will be extremely rewarding in the end.”

Apart from the tremendous amount of work and dedication put into this show, the amount of passion from these students is very notable.

“It has been one of the best experiences in my high school years,” says Margarita Velazco Garcia ’18 who plays the lead, Deloris Van Cartier, “I hope everyone enjoys it because we will be giving our best every single day.”

Opening night is Thursday, March 23 at 7:30. Shows also run March 24 and 25 at 7:30 and an earlier Sunday show on March 26 at 2:00. Tickets go on sale March 13 at The Cottage in Holyoke or in the front office at Holyoke High School.
