After becoming not only the first female Vice-President elect but the first female person of color to gain that title Kamala Harris has inspired women all over the world. Her actions have opened doors for people that they never thought could be opened. Her achievements show that when you put your mind to it you can make history no matter your gender, race or ethnic background. After the news was released of Harris becoming the Vice-President elect she made a post saying “ While I may be the first woman in this office , I will not be the last – because every little girl watching tonight sees that this is a country of possibilities” With Harris in office the future of females in positions of power is looking up.

This is not the first time Harris has made history. She was the first woman of color to serve as California’s attorney general. In 2016 she was elected as a United States senator becoming the second woman of color in the chamber’s history. She talks about how she grew up a lot because she knows that’s how many children are still growing up that way and she wants to change that. In a tweet saying “I want to speak directly to the Black women in our country. Thank you. You are too often overlooked.” She thanks women of color all over the country for helping her succeed and achieve the level of success she has today.

There were many reasons why Joe Biden chose her to be his running mate. The biggest reason for Biden was that she was very close friends with his late son Beau. He said that that was a key factor in his choice. He also put into consideration that being 56 she is a face for a younger generation of leaders as he is currently 77 making him the oldest president-elect.She is a candidate that Biden knew would draw a lot of attention to his campaign. We can only hope that in the months to come Harris uses her position of power to be the voice for minorities across the country. This could be detrimental to the future of politics.
