Will Jrue Holiday take the Celtics to the Finals?

Will Jrue Holiday take the Celtics to the Finals?

The Boston Celtics have made headlines once again in the NBA community with their latest trade, a move that has the potential to impact their upcoming season. As the team seeks to reestablish itself as a championship contender, the acquisition of new talent is a crucial step. In this article, we will take a closer look at the Celtics’ latest trade and how it may shape their performance in the 2023-24 season.

Robert Williams III and Malcolm Brogdon were sent to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for Jrue Holiday in a 3 way trade with the Milluwakee Bucks. Notably in his career, Williams has accumulated an average of 11.9 points, and an average of 9.6 rebounds per game. Before the shift, he was a main center for his team on the Celtics. He contributes to the team via his defensive skills in blocking and rebounding.

Brogdon has achieved an average of 21.4 points, 5.8 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per game. His position was point guard. There is no doubt he showcased his playmaking and scoring skills as well as contributing to defense to be a great role player.

Holiday has been referred to in the league as a great two-way guard, his most notable aspect being his defensive nature. Holiday has totaled an average of 19.8 points, 6.1 assists, and 4.4 rebounds per game.

It is also important to mention that Marcus Smart was previously traded during the offseason to acquire Kristaps Porzingis in another 3 way trade with the Washington Wizards and Memphis Grizzlies. Smart was the Celtics starting point guard for the last few seasons. Holiday now holds that position.

When asked about thoughts on the trade, one student reported, “Terrible trade for the Celtics. They traded Marcus Smart, Robert Williams III and Malcolm Brogman, the Sixth Man of the Year, who are defensive anchors. I feel like the trade is gonna make the Celtics worse. I have no faith in Porzingis and Horford as reliable big men, just to get another version of Marcus Smart.” said Yandiel Rivera.

In another interview a recent alumni stated, “Honestly I think the trade is a good trade, although trading our big man with much potential, Robert Williams III, didn’t sit right with me because the Celtics didn’t use him at his best, since he was always injured. I do believe Jrue Holiday was an amazing pickup after losing our defensive heart Marcus Smart. I see a lot of potential for this team. I see business first and defense!” said Jaden Colon.

Stay tuned for upcoming events this season. If you’re interested in catching up with these players from the pre-season to the 2023-2024 NBA season, watch on HULU, ESPN, NBA League Pass, etc.
