Holyoke vs. Central Football Preview

Finn Lubold previews this Friday’s 10/6 football game where The Knights will take on Central at Berte Field.

This Friday night at Berte Field in Springfield, Holyoke High looks to bounce back from last Friday’s loss against Longmeadow, with an upset against the Central High School Eagles now (2-2). Holyoke (3-1) will work to slow down Central’s speed and communicate on the offense to come out with a win. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m.

“We can meet their speed with physicality and quick reads,”  said senior captain and outside linebacker Owen “Juice” Lavelle. “We do have some speed of our own  but our main goal is to start hitting hard right away.”

Lavelle and his teammates want to come into the game aggressive for a shutdown defense. On the offensive side of the ball, fellow senior captain and center, Nolan Keane wants the O-line to talk to each other on the field in what he expects will be a powerful game in the trenches.

“Communication is the most important thing to the O-line’s success,” said Keane. “If we communicate on Friday we will dominate their defense.”

The Knights are looking for your support in a game which should be a great defensive effort on both sides of the ball. If you can’t make it to the game, make sure you follow the Herald @hhsheraldsports to keep up with the team.
