Football Senior Night Preview

The knights take on the Westfield bombers on 10/20 in what looks to be a memorable match up for the senior knights’ final home game.

This Friday night at 7:00 pm, the knights (4-2) hope to stop the Westfield Bombers (0-5) from flying around the field and blowing up their defense. The Bombers are looking for a win and Holyoke needs another great defensive game to come out ahead. The game, which is also the knight’s senior night, will be played at The Robert Sports Complex in Holyoke.

With a solid defensive game upfront, the knights look to get the ball back for  their offense in the same fashion as last week when they caused seven turnovers.

“What we will do is follow through with the coaches’ game plan,” defensive end Corey Thomas said. “We look to push past our limits during practice and get into the backfield this Friday”.

Thomas wants to add to his 3.5 sacks and put pressure on the quarterback to help force incomplete passes or interceptions.

On the offensive front, running back Giovanni Carrasquillo looks to start his powerful run game off to a great start and rush for another 100-plus yards again.

“We have to give it to Westfield’s defense from the start,” Carrasquillo said. “We need to hit them before they hit us, set the tone and make sure everyone gets to their assigned blocks. I believe with us doing that, our rushing game will be effective.”

Carrasquillo, with the help of his speed and o-line, hopes to add to his impressive 641 rushing yards this season.

The knights hope to keep winning and march into the playoffs over the next two weeks. They also want to see all their fans there this Friday, as it is a special night where the team will bid their seniors a farewell for what could be their last home game as a Knight. The following seniors will be honored prior to the game: Exavier Adorno, Giovanni Carrasquillo, Angel Cruz, Josmell Cruz, Martin Keane, Nolan Keane, Owen Lavelle, Isaiah Lopez, Christopher Lora, Jose Luciano, Iradiel Mejia, Gabriel Ochoa, Jerry Ortiz, Exavier Ramos, John Richter, and Andrew Romero.
