Holyoke vs. Comp Football Preview

Finn Lubold previews the knights’ match up this Friday against Chicopee Comp that will determine if they play at home during the playoffs.

The Knights captured a playoff spot last week and this week it’s all about winning for home field advantage. A Holyoke (5-2) win against Chicopee Comp (3-4) would ensure that the Knights play Minnechaug at Robert’s field as the second seed in the playoffs.

Matt Seymour, offensive guard and Applebee’s MVP of the game last week against Westfield, says the o-line can come out on top against Comp.

“We have to show up, hit them hard from the start, and continue that plan all night,” he said. “If we can know and get to our blocks then we can come out on top. That’s how we controlled the game last week.”

Holyoke’s defense has been better than ever. They have only given up 7 points in the past two games.

“To have another great defensive showdown we need to make sure we know our defense,” Starting Safety Kenny Williams said. “If my teammates and I are where they’re supposed to be than we can stop the play and get 11 purple helmets to the ball.”

Williams, who plays both sides of the ball, was named Applebee’s offensive standout player against Westfield.
