November 2015
Hello all,
Happy November! Things are starting to get in full swing here at The Herald, and we have plenty to report on and more to come.
Read about the new things happening- from new homerooms and schedules, to new teachers, to new forms of student leaders, the times they are a-changin’ at Holyoke High. The American Red Cross and the National Honor Society came together and recently held a blood drive in the small gym.
It may be November but you can still get your scare on, so check out Siobhan Brennan’s top ten Halloween movies. Even scarier for reporter Jack Courchesne is the death of patriotism- read his article here. Our new podcast, The Town Crier, interviewed both Holyoke mayoral candidates, Alex Morse and Fran O’Connell. Be sure to listen up before you hit the polls.
October was clearly a productive month for The Herald. Led by our fearless advisor, me and three other staffers traveled to Cambridge for a daylong workshop led by Harvard’s news source, The Crimson. We learned everything from effective staff management to ethics in journalism thanks to the variety of seminars attended. Check out some of our exploits in the photos above.
That’s all for now,
Melanie
